Although I do have a teaching and stringing business, this is a web site of education and information for tennis players (and racquetball players too!). First, let me tell you just how I got started in the stringing field. I was just an average High School tennis player in San Jose, California. I found the nearest place to have my racquet strung. I was one of those mulitiple sports shops; golf, biking, skiing, camping....and, oh yeah, tennis. I asked for a perticular string, "Blue Star". I had read some good things, and the different look was something I wanted. When I came back one week later, I got the racquet, looked at the string and couldn't believe it. It was the cheapest string they had......NOT "Blue Star". It was that nylon spiral string (yes, the guy told me...that's the 'Blue' star). Well, I didn't believe him. I wrote the company, they sent me a small sample and they talked to the store manager. Anyway, I learned to string racquets, but didn't get into it until 1983 at Torrejon Air Base, Spain. I strung there for the Sports Store for 21/2 years, then kept up with it. On the tennis newsgroups, I notice that everyone feels like they are getting ripped off by their local sports store/club or retail sports store. Here, is where (hopefully) you can find your answers!
